Little children aren't focused on creating a perfect finished product. They enjoy the process of what they're doing and sensations they feel when creating art and craft pieces. It is the way their hands feel when smearing wet paint on paper, how it looks when paint is splattered, and even the sounds made by their paintbrush strokes.
As children manipulate clay, their fine motor skills improve. By counting pieces and colors, they learn the fundamentals of math. When children experiment with various textures and art media, they dabble in science. When sharing about their creations, they are building their confidence in public speaking.
More significantly, when children feel good during their arts enrichment session, it helps to boost their self-confidence. Children who dare to experiment and make mistakes feel more adventurous to invent new ways of thinking, which extends well beyond the classroom.
